There are three play areas in the village.
Brackenhill, Carr Bridge and Low Ackworth
Brackenhill play area was refurbished in 2007 at the same time as the community centre was opened and drainage work carried out on the playing field.
Brackenhill Centre and Play Area - Dicky Sykes Lane
The play area at Carr Bridge was refurbished in 2012 and named after Roy Hirst, who had served the community as a Parish Councillor for over 40 years. This is a well used play area and a great addition to the already wonderful facilities at Carr Bridge playing field.
Carr Bridge Play Area, Mill Lane
Low Ackworth play area on Station Road has recently been upgraded. It now includes a timber climbing frame complete with ladder, nets, monkey bars, a fireman's pole and wobbly bridge. A see-saw, dragonfly and snail sculptures and a new basketball hoop are among other additions. It was officially opened in March 2017, funded by Wakefield Council and carried out with the support of Ackworth Parish Council.
