The Annual Parish Assembly is an opportunity for members of the public to learn what activities the Parish Council has been involved in during the year. It is also an opportunity to raise any issues with the Parish Council. Only parishioners who are registered on the Electoral Roll can vote on any issues. Other members of the public can attend and speak but they cannot vote.
The Annual Parish Assembly must be held annually between 1st March and 1st June. The meeting must not commence earlier than 6.00 p.m. and cannot be held in any premises used for the supply of alcohol unless no other room is available either at no cost or at a reasonable fee.
The Parish Council arrange the Annual Parish Assembly but the meeting is not a Parish Council meeting. If the Parish Chair is present at the meeting they must preside at the meeting. If the Chairman is absent then the Vice-Chair must chair the meeting. If neither are present those attending the meeting should appoint a Chairman for the evening.
The last Parish Assembly was held on Monday 15 April 2024. It was lovely to welcome 43 residents to the meeting, to hear updates from the Parish Council Vice Chair and local community groups.
Feedback from the meeting is welcome and should be sent to info@ackworthparishcouncil.gov.uk
