Situated within the Parish Council Community Centre, Bell Lane, Ackworth. The Community Library opened its doors in March 2013 following the closure of the facility by the local authority earlier the same year.

The Community Library now opens six half days a week and has over 1000 members.

The library has quickly become a hub for the local community as a place to meet and socialise as well as providing traditional library services.

With over 9000 books covering topics from crafts to fiction and local history to crime the library has something for everyone to read. There is a talking book section and an extensive children's library with early readers books, fiction, study material, and a teenage readers section.

Members and visitors are welcome to use our computers, including Apple computers. Advice on using the machines, accessing the internet, printing, and general computer use is always available. Photocopying and scanning services are available for a small fee.

Ackworth Community Library is open for after-school activities and organised seasonal and summer activities are offered for children of all ages.

Other activities include our monthly coffee mornings and book clubs, occasional cheese and wine gatherings, an annual craft fair, and seasonal celebrations such as our Christmas Fair.

The library does not receive any statutory funding and relies entirely on grants, donations, fund-raising and donations in kind. Ackworth Parish Council has been a main supporter of the library as have many local businesses and individual residents.

Ackworth Community Library is a volunteer-led facility and there are ongoing opportunities for people of all ages to volunteer and assist in the ongoing success of this important village facility.

If you would like further information regarding the library, its opening hours and volunteering opportunities please go to our website at Ackworth Community Library or visit us on Facebook.
