Published: 10 February 2023

At its meeting in February, the Parish Council approved the following points:

  • Budget and Precept Request 2023-24 - a budget of £290,123 and a precept amount of £215,786 which calculates to a 1.27% increase, giving an annual bill of £75, an increase of 94p per year for a Band D, and requiring the amount £8337 from reserves.
  • Brackenhill Allotments - it was approved that rent charges would remain the same; the annual rent charge remains at £19 for a full plot and £10.50p for  a half plot
  • Road Safety - the request for a pedestrian crossing on Wakefield Road is still ongoing.  The outstanding request for a site visit with representatives from Wakefield Council will be chased up.
  • The Parish Council approved the following statement:  "Ackworth Parish Council is opposed to any plans to build houses on greenbelt land and to any plans to build a road that encroaches on Hessle and on Brackenhill Common.  We are opposed to any local development that will result in a significant increase in traffic movement through Ackworth."
