Work Experience
Published: 31 July 2024
Earlier this month, the Parish Council was privileged to host a local pupil to gain some valuable work experience.
School – The Kings School, Pontefract
Pupil – Lucy
Date – Monday 8th July – Thursday 11th July 2024
Hours Worked – 28 hours in total
Overview
Lucy joined us from The Kings School Year 10 work experience from the 8th – 11th July. During the time she was asked to work on and complete several tasks. These included both office and computer based as well as community aimed roles. She approached all tasks with a can-do attitude and completed them in a timely manner. Her conduct and confidence showed maturity, and she was able to clearly communicate with all staff members and members of the public.
This was demonstrated when she supported the set-up and running of the Parish Councils Coffee Morning. Lucy took time to chat to residents and Parish Councillors, served numerous cups of tea and coffee and then cleared away at the end.
Her commitment was further demonstrated when she was producing the logo icons for the Local Council Responsibilities document. Lucy worked on the task till completion and the results were impressive. This document will be of huge used to Ackworth Parish Council and will be a feature on the next Newsletter.
The work placement was a benefit to the council, not only in the work produced but also in the link of a future employee or volunteer as Lucy expressed an interest in volunteering in her community. We also have a link to the school for future work experience placements, which may be beneficial to the council.
Well done Lucy, it was a pleasure to have you as part of the staff team.
