Welcome to Ackworth Parish Council

 

Ackworth is a large village with approximately 7000 inhabitants, within the Metropolitan Borough of the City of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Situated on the river Went at the historically important crossroads of the Barnsley to Pontefract Road and the Doncaster to Wakefield Road. Ackworth was on the pathway linking the prosperous Heavy Woollen District of the West Riding of Yorkshire with the A1 and London.
